The Measurement and Error Compensation for Contouring Accuracy of Multi-Axis Machine tools are investigated in this thesis. Firstly, the contouring error models for different tool paths were developed. Subsequently, the cross-coupled controller was designed to compensate the contouring error in corporate with the developed contouring error model. Secondary, a method of using Ball-Bar measure 3-D space, a high efficacy and low cost measure system, and the application to controller’s parameters is developed in this thesis. Besides the position accuracy of single axis and the contour accuracy of two linear axes, a linear axis and a rotation axis Finally, experiments will also be conducted to verify the reliability and feasibility of the developed technologies and system.
