Being encouraged by advocate of industrial intellectualism, the 3rd level of industrial tourism, whether a sector transformed from or cooperating with traditional tourism, is playing a bridging role between manufactures and diversified marketing, and providing additional opportunities for sector’s developments, in addition to differentiated tourist experiences. The development of industrial tourism currently is limited to agriculture, fishery, and other specific sectors. Literature on composite development between majority of sectors and tourism is scarce and rare. This study discusses current and future industrial tourism within (local) manufacturing sector and its effects for different sectors. Developments of sectors and tourism, experience economy and characteristics of recreational market are explored. Candidates suitable for industrial tourism as well as their feasible strategic planning and developmental models, including how to shape and maintain a proper circumstance to ensure of successful diversification, transformation and/or upgrade of business operations, are recommended for reference. The first part of this study reviews available literature on definition and development of industrial tourism, history of experience economy and strategic planning. A theoretical framework for connection between heterogeneous sectors and tourism is established. The second part is consisted of case study, investigation of business context, review of evolutional socioeconomic structure, examination of relevance between experience economy and industrial tourism, and finally, analysis of industrial tourism development. Recommendations for feasibility, developmental models experience attributes are derived from the findings collected from seminar participation and questionnaire respondents. In the final part, significance of functional industrial tourism is concluded, and recommendations for strategic developments based on results of SWOT matrix analysis are provided for reference by public and private planners and developers. The conclusions of this study are summarized as follows: 1.Industrial tourism meets and shall meet the requirements of current and future developments of sectors because its developmental framework roots in demand-and-supply theory, composite development of industry and tourism, information age and experience economy; 2.The unique tourist experiences provided by industrial tourism help increasing economic benefits and/or value-added for different sectors, including establishment and maintenance of good business image and promotion of managerial quality through use of experience marketing. 3.Industrial tourism can lead to further utilization of sector’s resources, and is suitable and feasible for many different sectors to develop distinctive operations combining tourism, particularly traditional local sectors featured natural resources and modernized labor-dense manufacturers; 4.The strategic development of industrial tourism covered applications of conceptual modules, positioning of developments, transitions of models, legislation, supportive systems, attractions and events, planning and marketing, and integration of resources. 胡志平 張璠 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 119 zh-TW
