Summary:博士 === 國立中正大學 === 歷史研究所 === 90 === A study about the history of Taiwan under the martial law.For instance,in 1960''s Dr.J.K.Fairbank made his best to persuade American goverment to contact and to have a official relationship with P.R.O.C. . In the meantime, some enthusiastic nationalist groups in Taipei decided to criticize Dr. Fairbank as a secret agent of the American communist.He was charged with the conspiracy to terminate R.O.C.by the means of sponsoring many famous scholars including Mr.Tao Pei-chuan .To avoid attacks from the enthusiastic nationalist ,Tao escape frome Taiwan to U.S.A. .But in 1982 , with the helps of the congressmen and the public opinion ,Tao overcome the vicious attempt of the secret agency to charge him of the traitor.What makes the difference between these two matters is one of the themes of this study.
