Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 電機工程研究所 === 90 === A generic simulation platform for studying radio resource management (RRM) such as power control, soft handoff, admission control and others has been developed in this thesis for the third generation wideband code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. The platform is unique in several ways. First, the effects of wave propagation such as path-loss﹑correlated shadow fading and multi-path fading have been taken into account in the simulation. Especially, a new technique of combining auto- and cross-correlation shadow fading is proposed so as to improve the accuracy of the simulation results. Second, realistic user mobility and traffic models based on those proposed for UMTS are employed to investigate the system performance and therefore, the obtained results can be more useful in practical planning of real systems. Third, both event-driven and time-driven concepts are adopted simultaneously in the simulation that renders the platform with high flexibility. In addition, the technique of wrap around is used to significantly improve the simulation efficiency. Finally, the platform can be easily extended to the RRM research of heterogeneous network systems.
