This BOLS is achieved by cascading a Praseodymium Fluoride fiber amplifier (PDFA) and a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA). Then, we study a continue wave (CW) fiber laser using two symmetric active fiber loop mirrors. The optimal laser output conditions can be search by adjusting the driving voltage of the active fiber loop mirrors. The theoretical model we built show good coincidence with the experimental results. Besides, a novel fiber laser with a non-symmetric resonant cavity that includes an active fiber loop mirror and a narrow bandwidth fiber grating mirror. The lasing characteristics of the fiber laser are experimentally studied with analyzing the DC driving voltage of the active fiber loop. Furthermore, a wavelength tunable fiber laser with non-symmetric cavity is implemented. The wavelength can be tuned and the modulation bandwidth can reach 1.4 GHz. Moreover, we apply the fiber laser with two symmetric active fiber loop mirrors in the CATV system. We will simulated the carrier to noise ratio by way of the numerical analysis. Then, we apply the same fiber laser to a new fiber communication system that includes the CATV and CDMA. And then the CATV analog signal and CDMA digital signal are transmitted together in our fiber laser. Finally, with the numerical curves, the various applications of our systems can be analyzed and the feasibility of these new architectures can be also verified.
