Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 空間設計系碩士班 === 89 === In the space-related design fields, drawings are usually used as tools of design or media of communication to save time instead of scaled models, mock-ups, or computer models. However, it can be learnt, no matter in professions or schools, that the ability of spatial alignment is fundamental for space-related design professions. The ability of spatial alignment matches 2-dimensional space with 3-dimensional space, and vice versa. Space-related design professionals may enhance the coincidence between different aspects of spaces and save more time in design manipulation if they can keep on matching 2-dimensional pictures with 3-dimensional spaces. One way of understanding the ability of spatial alignment is to investigate the factors of it, and to inspect their influences of them.
Purpose
This research examines the ability of spatial alignment of design apprentices. Two factors and their influences on the ability of spatial alignment are inspected in this research, "complexity of configuration" and "complexity of spatial relationship".
Method
This research adopts the "hypothesis-experiment-verification" method, which is usually used in cognitive science researches. Computers play as a tool of testing apprentices, collecting and analyze data in the experiments.
Result
1.The result of the "complexity of configuration" experiment verifies that both "deformation of shape" and "complexity of composition" affect the ability of spatial alignment, and the influence of "deformation of shape" is greater than "complexity of composition".
2. The result of the "complexity of spatial relationship" experiment verifies that both "number of objects" and "orthogonal/non-orthogonal relationships" affect the ability of spatial alignment, and the influence of "number of objects" is greater than "orthogonal/non-orthogonal relationships".
The results of this research may help understanding some phenomena apprentices'' the ability of spatial alignment and establishing some courses to enhancing it. Furthermore, the results can also start some advanced researches in the ability of spatial alignment.
