碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 視覺傳達設計系碩士班 === 89 === This study aims to understand the factors that influence the human cognition on the pictorial symbols for care label. Based on the literature review, collecting the regulations and symbols of care labels which were used officially in Taiwan and other countries, three stages’ investigations were develop to gathering useful data and information for this study. The methods were applied in these investigations were as follow: 1）Questionnaire and Interview method was conducted in the first stage, to understand interviewees’ attitude to care label and how they taking care of their clothing. 2）The method of Mapping choice was conducted in the second stage’s investigation, to understand how well the 40 symbols matching with their meanings. 3）The method of Semantic Differentia was conducted in the third stage’s investigation, to evaluate 25 symbols of care label in design quality, communication and recognition. Based on the finding, this study proposed some suggestions. Hopefully, the results of this study would provide value information for government, laundry industry, and clothing manufactures, also could contribute value information for design practice.
