However, as people come to expect a higher standard of living throughout their lives, more and more attention must be paid to product design and development for the elderly. In order to make products accessible for the elderly, many ergonomic issues should be studied. Visual ergonomics is the most important design issue for products with a user interface. In this study, we investigated color discrimination properties for elderly people. Thirty elderly people participated as subjects, and thirty young people participated as a control group. This study collected all data regarding color discrimination using the CRT and the 100-hue test of the Japan Color Research Institute. According to the results of this study: 1. The elderly people had worse color discrimination ability than the young people. 2. If the red, green or blue color was shown on the CRT, all subjects had worse color discrimination ability than their adjacent hue. 3. Using the 100-hue test, the error scores were greater for purple-red or green-blue colors. 4. Subjects had better color discrimination at mid color brightness than at high color brightness on the CRT. Chang-franw Lee 李傳房 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 68 zh-TW
