Description
Summary:碩士 === 世新大學 === 經濟學系 === 89 === We use a dynamic simultaneous equation model to estimate the demand for international telephone calls and investigate call externality and arbitrage between Taiwan and China. Monthly data are used over the period 1992.January∼2000.August。We find that the demand for telephone calls from China to Taiwan is price elastic while the demand for telephone calls from Taiwan to China is price inelastic . We also find telephone calls originating from China to Taiwan are complementary to calls from Taiwan to China for China international telephone users, but are substitutes for Taiwan international telephone users。International calls between China and Taiwan exhibit reciprocal and arbitrage effects. Finally, telephone demand between Taiwan and China responds positively to income and trade.
