Summary: | 碩士 === 大同大學 === 電機工程研究所 === 89 === In this thesis, The User Datagram Protocol (UDP) is adopted by transmitting packet for reducing transmission delay of multimedia information on network transmission. UDP is no guarantee and best effort of network bandwidth transmission. Because of multimedia information require for realtime, it can tolerate some degradation of packet loss. For this reason, it is suitable for network transmission of multimedia information by using UDP. Recently, wireless LAN have used in existing Ethernet environment, thus IEEE 802.11 is newest standard, it can reach 11 Mps transmission on ideal communication situation.
In this thesis, the major objective of using Iperf measurement tool which was written at University of Illinois of United State for measuring performance analysis of 802.11b WLAN and Ethernet by using UDP transmission. Understanding the transmission behavior of UDP on different network environments, and proposing the difference for comparison. This need give a objective reference for the user who must adopt the UDP in the wireless network.
