碩士 === 淡江大學 === 國際事務與戰略研究所 === 89 === Abstract: The main purpose of this thesis is to discuss the jurisdiction of 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, analyze and file the related clauses of jurisdiction to generalize and systematize the jurisdiction of this Convention. The framework of this study is composed of six chapters: Chapter 1: Introduction. Chapter 2: The history and progress of 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Chapter 3: National sovereignty and jurisdiction. Chapter 4: The related regulations of jurisdiction of 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Chapter 5: The Cases study of jurisdiction of 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Chapter 6: Conclusion. After the Convention had been set up, it has completed the first new international sea order in universal. In view of the development on the Law of Sea we can easily find out that coastal nations have the tendency to extend their jurisdiction on ocean greatly and the Hight Seas has been reduced its area. This result could be the big problem and issue on sea order in the future. Therefore, how to balance the dispute is the most important thing and it need to amend the Convention in the future.
