Since the trend of city development for Taipei moved to east from west in recent years that the west area of Taipei, such as the old street block at Tatung district, Taipei even stopped growing. As a result, it''s to show the low effect of land use, old and decadent building and city view, as well as the bad living quality for the public. The reason is attributed that the land in an old city area created too many pieces of odd land after the new road divided under urban plan due to enforcement of urban plan. The intersection angle between original land registration line and road is too big that is hard to construct. Besides, the area of land is too narrow and the situation of land sub-division is very serious so as to create complicate ownership and insufficient public facilities that the existing development of old district in a city is difficult to match the enforcement of urban plan.
However, the street block at this district, followed the development and declination of Section 2 of Tihu Street, constitute a special living style and situation with local characteristics. As for current development condition of whole street block, such a living image is still keeping. And as for the urban renewal, under various legal limits, the old district in a city faces a dead end that is hard to develop. Therefore, this study is to raise a set of new plan structure and development suggestion under design of practical environment by means of environment investigation and analysis, designation of environmental issues and imitated operation model for the growth of street. In addition, it''s to explore the mechanism forming space structure of streets at old district in a city from such aspects as urban plan, urban renewal, neighborhood relationship, habitant''s living and characteristics of practical environment. The thesis is divided into three parts:
1st part: Matching the theory of environment observation, analyze the environmental characteristics and habitant''s behavior against the characteristics of context on the site, further point out the environmental issues and raise the developmental potential and vision for the street block.
2nd part:Provide a new set of plan structure and development model for new space according to the developmental potential and vision for the street block.
1. New plan structure: Provide a set of new idea for plan system which is more delicate and more suitable for district and more.
2. New spatial pattern of the street block: Provide the strategy for space mode against ''urban plan'', ''district design'' and ''construction development''.
3. Preparation for the design principle: Prepare a design principle to be refereed by means of the space strategy provided.
3RD part: Explore the strategy and action for the development of the street block, and imitate the model of re-development by the procedure for mode practice and operation to return and shape the new features for the space of the street block overall.
