Therefore, the research results were manipulated by the government. The historical research in the Soviet Union is a typical case of the bureaucratic influence. Although Caucasian War in the Nineteen Century was over, the meanings and comments of the war per se underwent a lot of changes in the Soviet period. That is, in some periods the historical researcher considered the war had positive influence on the country, while the scholars in other periods did not agree with it. Some comments even totally twisted the truth. Based on these comments in different periods, the change of Soviet historical research could be further observed. Therefore, this research tried to summarize entire historical research shift in Soviet historiography. Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Gorbachev who are the most influence leaders in politics and culture in the Soviet period. Lenin advocated overthrowing Czar, the right of nations to self-determination, partiinost; Stalin adhered to Socialism in One Country ; Khrushchev was the first step to political reform; in Brezhnev period the ideology turned back to the conservative line; Gorbachev started glasnost and perestroika. How did their political thought affect historical research? How did they see Caucasian War? How did comments change? It is the main point of this thesis. In Taiwan only a few articles have discussed the political influence on Soviet historical research, and yet no comprehensive summary of different periods is found. This thesis tried to analyze these complicated changes in order to understand the shift of the Soviet historiography. M.V.Kryukov 劉克甫 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 140 zh-TW
