In relation to assessing industrial influences on the environment, the exposure of organic compounds that produce hazardous effects and jeopardize personal safety should be evaluated. This assessment of the risk of human exposure will help to improve management policies of the environment, especially the management of toxins and pollutants. First, we used a fugacity model to estimate the pollutant distribution in the Hsin-Chu area, followed by the MMTD model to calculate the dose rate. Finally, we assessed the risk and hazard index(HI) to the residents of various age groups. Hsin-Chu, including Tou-Fen industry, was selected as the simulation area for the transport of six organic compounds, namely Methylene Chloride, Chloroform, Carbon Tetrachloride, Acetone, Methyl Ethyl Ketone and Isopropanol. The results from this research build toward modifying the risk assessment with the MMTD model. The simulation results and risk assessment of this study were concluded as follows: 1. From the risk assessment it was found that inhalation is the main form of exposure for the toxins, which are emitted into the air. Exposure to Acetone, Methyl Ethyl Ketone and Isopropanol may also include physical intake. 2. The Hazard Indices (HI) of the simulated toxins were in an acceptable range (HI<1), which means hazardous effects to Hsin-Chu residents are minimal. 3. The risk of exposure to children is higher than that to adults, due to differences in the age, sex, standard weight and exposure dosage rates. 4. For Carbon Tetrachloride, the carcinogenic risk of the male is 1.08 ×10-8 and for female is 9.23 ×10-9. For Chloroform, the carcinogenic risk of the male is 1.33 ×10-8 and for female is 1.14 ×10-8 . For Methylene Chloride, the carcinogenic risk of the male is 2.26 ×10-12 and for female is 1.93 ×10-12 . The result of carcinogenic risk assessment is Chloroform> Carbon Tetrachloride> Methylene Chloride. 5. Since MMTD is a wide range risk assessment, the values of the simulated risk were much lower compared to the ISC model, which is better in simulating partial region risk assessment, such as industrialized zone. This research is more appropriate to fit a wider range like an entire city or even country. Luke Chen 陳俊成 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 89 zh-TW
