碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 技術及職業教育研究所 === 89 === Abstract In the field of education, educators often needed to assess the performance of a person on a certain subject at a certain time. Most often statistics was applied as an interpretational tool to analyze data collected. However, when the number of sample was small, or when there was little data, the application of statistics would somewhat limited. Hence, Professor Julong Deng introduced the Grey system for effective processing of matters containing small sample, least data, and uncertainty. The applicability of the Grey system has already been verified in some areas. This research explored (1) theories related to the application of Grey system in assessments; (2) feasibility of application of Grey association in assessment; and (3) advantages and disadvantages of the Grey system and statistics released to assessment analysis. In addition to explore the application of the Grey system the field of education, an empirical study was carried out to compare the results between Grey relational analysis and statistics analysis based on the data of student evaluate teachers’ teaching during 1997-1999 school years at National Taipei University of Technology. After the analysis, this study discovered that the results generate from Grey relational analysis and statistics analysis were no different, statistically.
