Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 工業工程學系 === 89 === The recent trend of global competition leads to the focus on the management and collaboration in supply chains in which inventory control and information sharing are two of the most critical issues. This thesis covers two parts of studies. In the first part, we use Johnson’s translation systems to reconstruct the conventional “newsboy” model. By means of numerical experiments, we demonstrate that the decision makers may gain the value of information by using Johnson’s systems to fit distribution-free demand data to improves the solution quality of the newsboy model. The second part of this thesis discusses a supply chain which a wholesaler faces two or more retailers with uncertain demand. All the members in this supply chain employ newsboy models, and the wholesaler uses a return policy. We demonstrate that the wholesaler’s may use an appropriate return policy as an efficient way of collaboration and information sharing to reduce the total costs in the whole supply chain. That is, we show that the return policy improves the value of information in the supply chain.
