The reaction of toluene diisocyanate (TDI) with polyester and metal-complex dye forms metal-complex dye polyurethane (PU) ionomers, and their structures have been proven by FT-IR spectra.
Experimental results show that the viscosity are seen to increase with increasing the concentration of metal-complex dye. This is the result of increased free volume of PU ionomer molecule. For yellow metal-complex dye PU ionomer solution, the surface tension are seen to decrease with increasing the concentration of yellow metal-complex dye. This may be due to increased amount of polar groups at the surface of dimethylformamid (DMF). On the other hand, the surface tensions are seen to increase with increasing the concentration of red metal-complex dye. This is the result of polar groups adsorbed at the surface of dimethyl- formamid (DMF), becoming even more order.
The experimental results indicate that for the film of self-cured PU ionomers the tensile strength and modulus become weak as the concentration of metal-complex dye increases. Owing to the intramolecular interaction, the capability of crosslinking for metal-complex dye PU ionomers becomes weaker. Thus, the tensile strength and modulus decrease. Contrarily, the elongation for metal-complex dye PU ionomers is seen to increase with increasing the concentration of metal-complex dye, as a result of compact conformation formed.
