Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 纖維及高分子工程系 === 89 === We have investigated electro-optic characteristics of homeotropic alignment for the ECB color liquid crystal display which is use nematic liquid crystal with negative dielectric anisotropic . The electro-optic characteristics of the LC molecules at the on-state with two different ECB-mode cells(with and without rubbing)were studied. The cell gap were control in 5µm、10µm、20µm, respectively. For V<Vth , both with and without aligned cell shown a dark situation at voltage-off state. But for V>Vth, in without rubbing cell show thread-like structure, in with rubbing cell show uniform color. The experimental results show transmission efficiencies of 50﹪,with exhibits contrast in excess of 500 and while applied different voltage in visible light wavelength reveal different color.
