The intention of this thesis is to investigate the contingency load transfer problem of Taipower’s preliminary closed rings, to realize the capability of load transfer between this pilot system and adjoining systems, and then to insure the operation of this pilot system, fulfill the target of setting up this system, that is increasing the system reliability. First of all, the required data were collected to build a correct and detailed system model, in which all the statuses of the switches were indicated. Based on the system architecture, various load transfer strategies were proposed to deal with different types of contingencies. All the load transfer strategies were evaluated by the above-mentioned system model using power flow and fault analysis programs to judge the feasibility and suitability of these strategies. Secondly, according to the first-phase study results, the varieties of the main transformer loadings, power losses, short-circuit capacities, feeder currents and voltage drops along the feeders were analyzed and compared. For convenience, the results were shown by figures and tables. Finally, the suitable contingency load transfer strategies were proposed, and their corresponding procedures were listed in order for reference for related Taipower personnel.
