A combination of an adaptive speed controller and an explicit efficiency control algorithm is proposed to control the speed and power efficiency of the induction motor. First, decoupling of the motor torque and rotor flux amplitude is based on the input-output linearization theory. Then, an adaptive speed controller is designed to control the speed of the induction motor. At steady-state light-load condition, the magnetizing current command is adjusted on the basis of the product of magnetizing current command and torque current command. So that the steady-state power loss is minimum. Finally, a DSP-based induction motor speed control system is assembled to investigate the features of the proposed high-efficiency speed control algorithm. From the experiment result, the explicit efficiency control algorithm of this paper can get the most efficient work at steady-state light-load condition. Therefore, it can sharply decline power loss of induction motor and hence improve the efficiency of induction motor. As above, the implementation of an adaptive high-efficiency induction motor speed control system which can improve performance and decline power loss is constructive to the purpose of make good use electricity.
