Mission effectiveness of parallel system measures the interaction between the system performance subject to random failure and repair and the random task-arriving process in a system. For parallel service system, derivation of mission effectiveness seems formidable. A simulation model is developed for studying the mission effectiveness of a parallel service system. Empirical results show that the improvement in mission effectiveness is not a linear function in the number of parallel machines and saturates after some number of machines. This critical number depends on the other parameters. Results can be applied to aeronautic control, military defense, and network management problems. 楊維寧 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 38 zh-TW
