The process studied is surfactant molecules adsorb onto a freshly created air-water interface. The Langmuir and Frumkin models were utilized for describing the mass transport of surfactant molecules. Experimental data show that C10E4 has an anti-cooperative adsorption behavior (K>0), and the adsorption onto a clean interface is of diffusion control at dilute concentration. Comparison between the experimental data and the profiles predicted from the Langmuir and Frumkin adsorption isotherms was made for C10E4 solution. The Frumkin adsorption isotherm predicted the experimental data better than Langmuir model. Another purpose of this work is to study the interfacial properties of aqueous solution of splittable surfactant Triton SP-190. The experimental results that equilibrium surface tension and dynamic surface tension are influenced by the concentration of HCl. pH is found to be a significant parameter influencing the relaxation phenomena at gas/liquid interfaces for Triton SP-190.
