碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 衛生政策與管理研究所 === 89 === In some western studies of addressing smoking behavior, one can find that Gender Perspective has began play an important part in the researches. On contrary, we rarely can find any source in our country that using women smokers as a subject-matter. The public has greatly believed women’s smoking is greatly due to rapid changes in our society or perhaps it is another way of expressing women’s rights. However, there is no any evidence supports these beliefs. Rather, we shall shift the focus to the smoker herself. This paper will study the smoker’s behavior implicitly and investigating other people’s reaction toward her smoking or the image she has imposed on other people. This paper is a qualitative research. All the data are collected from the sources from Internet Bulletin Board System, cases observation and interviews. Crossing examinations and checkings are utilized to increase credibility of the data found. The motivation of women smoking, as found, is a reflection of her ego. Once, people see women smokers as being “ wicked”. The image of women smoking is now recognized as a vogue. The cigarette commercials and media are well of using this image to sell their products. It implies another new wave of Patriarchy idealism. None of this is relative to women’s right. The research is fundamental and explorative. Hopefully, it will stimulate more gender studies in the relative subjects in the future. While the attention is on searching a right tactics to understand more in women smoking, advocating the smoker to quit smoking and emphasize smoking is hazardous to the health shall be as important as well.
