Related factors of knowledge, satisfaction, attitude, participating intention on pre-hospital care with ER/ICU nurses

碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 護理學研究所 === 89 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge, attitude and the satisfactory level of the ER/ICU nurses toward current pre-hospital care of emergency medicine service (EMS) in Taiwan area. The study was a survey in nature, and a self-administered questionnaire was developed to conduct the data collection. Purposive sampling method was used to recruit subjects from medical centers, regional hospitals and local hospitals in the northern and middle parts of Taiwan area. A total of 570 nurses who mailed back the questionnaires were enrolled into this study. The response rate was 77.9%. The major statistical procedures applied in data management were: descriptive statistics, Chi-square, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results indicated that nurses with working experience for more than 10 years, working in northern Taiwan, and in medical centers had more knowledge about EMS than did others. Nurses with bachelor degrees had more positive attitude toward EMS than did others. The higher the knowledge score, the more positive the attitude toward EMS, and the higher satisfactory level of the nurses would be. Up to 70% of the subjects did not perceive that participation in EMS would interfere with nursing care of the patients in their units. Half of the nurses in ER and one third of the nurses in ICUs perceived themselves as competent in participating in EMS. To increase manpower and to establish certification and registration system were perceived as essential in determining to participate EMS. “Improving the shelter protocols related to malpractice court suits” and “correction of the wrong perception of the public toward paramedical personnel in EMS” were seen as conditions that can turn negative attitudes to EMS to positive ones. The finding of this study provides a lot of information regarding the intention and conditions of the nurse in determining to participate pre-hospital care of the EMS. It can serve as good reference for the administrators in planning the inclusion of nurses in pre-hospital care of the EMS.
