In addition to looking for the most suitable cutting tool material, several cooling methods (wet cut, high pressure spray mist and Liquid Nitride) are also applied to this experiment work. Because the main purpose of this article is to increase the tool life, so the cause of tool''s wear/fracture was investigated in detail after the experiment. The result was also compared to dry cut, the most suitable cooling method and velocity for high speed milling of SKD61 die steel were discussed. The results of the investigation show that cermet tool is not suitable for high speed cutting of SKD61 die steel when machining under dry condition. The performance of coated carbide tool is better than uncoated carbide tool when cutting velocity is below 169m/min, but the result is opposite when cutting velocity is higher. Related to the aspect of cooling method, tool life of carbide tool under wet condition is less than it under dry condition obviously. The cooling method of spraying mist on tool can lengthen tool life of coated carbide obviously, but shorten tool life of uncoated carbide tool. Applying Liquid Nitride to uncoated carbide tool leads to catastrophic failure, but tool life is increased when apply it to coated carbide tool under high speed condition. 廖運炫 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 102 zh-TW |
