Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 機械工程學研究所 === 89 === In this thesis, the dynamic performance of Geneva mechanism with clearance is studied. Firstly, the dynamic equations of the Geneva mechanism with clearance are derived. Further, based upon the contact loss theory, formulation of the impact force between the crank pin and the wheel slot is established. Simulations of the impacting is subsequently presented. Secondly, methods of reducing the impact forces caused by the clearance of pin-in-slot joint are studied. It can be shown that by adding a velocity damper to the rotation of wheel, the force resulting from the second impact in the motion, can be reduced greatly. Meanwhile, it is found that by using variable speed of the crank motion, the impact force resulting from the initial engagement of the crank pin and wheel slot can be also reduced. The effects have been illustrated via the simulation of the impact equation.
