碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 森林學研究所 === 89 === The earthquake triggered Chueh-T’a Mountain landslides at Chao Ling, Yenlin county, Central Taiwan on Sept. 21 1999. One year later since the collapse occurred, studied of vegetation colonization of the slide areas was applied. A total of thirty-five plots（10×10㎡）were established in the study area. The elevations of the area range from 500 to 600 meters above sea level. A toatal of 74 species, which were belonged to 66 genera and 27 families respectively were collected in the study area. Dominant species were determined by the analysis of the Important Value Index（IVI）method. Among woody plants, the Trema orientalis is the dominant one, and of which the IVI value is 133.66. Two main types and two subtypes of vegetation were recognized by the TWINSPAN method in this study. They are: I. Trema orientalis type. Two subtypes are recognized: I-I. Trema orientalis-Zanthoxylum ailanthoides subtype. I-II. Trema orientalis-Rhus javanica var. roxburghiana subtype. II. Buddleia asiatica-Aeschynomene indica-Saccharum type. The habitat of the first type is more moist, and its woody plants are more numerous;but the second type is rocky and lacking in nutrients, and the high-stemed herbs are the dominants. The result of this study shows that the vegetation colonization are concentrated at a few plots, and the structure of the vegetation community is still at the pioneer stage.
