Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 森林學研究所 === 89 === Summary The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Taiwan Cypress odor on the physiological and psychological responses of human being, and to test the pytincides effect in the wooden structures. The effect of Taiwan cypress odor on the physiological response of human being is focused on three aspects: systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and heart beat. This study indicated that the response of systolic blood pressure was insignificant But the responses of diastolic blood pressure and heartbeat were significantly slower. To test the consistency of psychological response and physiological response, the experimental subject was put in a controlled experimental environment. the results of this study showed that the wood scent gave the experimental subject comfort, freshness, pleasure, softness and pleasant smell. The wood scent also reduced diastolic blood pressure and heart beat physiologically, which resulted a state of tranquility.
