Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 造船及海洋工程學研究所 === 89 === Model test systems for a high speed catamaran are developed, those include the measurements of the resistance, trim, heave, foil lift and stern bottom pressure. The bare model resistance tests for the demi-hull and catamaran are run first with the volume froude number (Fn▽) from 0.40 to 3.0 to get the basic resistance character. Secondly, the interceptor and stern flap effects on the attitude and resistance of demi-hull are studied by series tests. Finally, the main foil, interceptor, and stern flap effects on the attitude and resistance of the catamaran are also carried out.
Experimental results present the following important conclusions:
(1)The main foil develop a major lifting force to lift the craft and reduce the wetted
surface area and frictional resistance.
(2)The interceptor and stern flap develop high pressures around stern bottom part
and a favorable running trim is created to reduce the residual resistance.
(3)The combination of the main foil and the interceptor or stern flap is a good design
concept to improve the resistance performance of semi-displacement CAT.
(4)The test results show that the performance of the designed CAT is above average.
