Most employees are male. In this decade, the society gets more and more open-minded, that encourages girls to major in civil engineering. In the research, we choose the graduates among 1973-1997 of civil engineering department of National Taiwan University and Cheng Kung University to be the population. By asking questionnaires about the situation of career choice, entrance to the industry, and the condition of their original family, we would like to realize the reasons for theses female students studying in construction. By the way, for realizing the differences of career development in construction between male and female, we also send questionnaires to male graduates. Because of the results of quantification is imperfect, we sample several outstanding to interview. In conclusion, we would generalize the important decisions and path through career development, providing the data for schools, department, and the demanders. The out come shows that women’s average level of education is higher. They’re tend to choosing job of programming (44.6%). Just few of the female workers deal with construction manage and site work. But it makes no difference about the income between male and female. Also, most female employees are stable jobholders. Compared with the investigation in Europe and America, it’s the system of education and custom in Taiwan that shows more tolerance to women who have chosen to work in construction. There’s highly support from family and schools for girls to devote themselves in studying construction. On the contrary, whether domestic or not, female professionals are easily positioned in the basic level to assist their male colleagues for the sake of less chance for women to handle a site-work field. About promotion, the construction industry is always a male-dominated society. And of course it’s hard for women to break the old rules established. In the long run women would play an important role in construction, although it’s just the beginning for women in Taiwan fighting against the old concepts. 曾惠斌 吳道生 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW |
