Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 土木工程學研究所 === 89 === This paper studies the problem of seepage through an earth dam and is intended to determine the location of free surface. The free surface is defined at where the pore water pressure equals to zero. Effects of the capillary fringe may be obtained by using field formula depending on properties of soil. In this paper, numerical procedures are established to calculate the free surface distribution by applying the relation between physical plane and potential and streamline plane. This model has an advantage of avoiding tedious iterations in quasi-steady scheme, and therefore is more efficient. From numerical solutions, the seepage face due to capillary effects may be easily identified. After defining the free surface distribution, this model could further determine velocity field and flow rate within an earth dam. Present model is employed to simulate an anisotropic dam and an earth dam with a drained layer to demonstrate its flexible application capabilities.
