In this thesis, we will report the second harmonic generation (SHG) in SiO2. We used ND:YAG laser as incident beam and measured the SHG in SiO2 glass by corona poling and under external applied electric field. The Maker Fringes were used to obtain the nonlinear coefficient . The experimental results revealed that SHG intensity could be enhanced by applying external electric field. We also found that annealing process can also enhance the SHG intensity.
