Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立海洋大學 === 水產養殖學系 === 89 === This study investigated the inhibitory effect of Pseudomonas sp.(strain G)isolated from pond mud against pathogenic Vibrio harveyi. Strain G together with two ATCC reference strains(10303 and 11892)were characterized and identified to be Pseudomonas aeruginosa using API 20E kits and BIOLOG plates. Strain G and its extracellular porducts(ECP)possessed inhibitory effects against V. harveyi tested. Bacterial cells exhibited bactericidal effect which its ECP only exhibited growth inhibition against V. harveyi. Presumably, the amount of bactericidal component(s) exhibited by the bacterial cells of G strain was low, a toxic gas or not secreted in the ECP. The inhibitory component(s) in the ECP was partially purified and proven the low molecular weight, heat stable and non-protein material. Strain G was low virulence to white shrimp(Penaeus vanamei)and Japanese seabass (Lateolabrax japonicus), indicating that the strain is suitable for probiotic application in the control of Vibriosis in aquaculture.
