| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 翻譯研究所 === 89 === This thesis is a commentary on the Chinese translation of the book, The Predictors, written by Thomas A. Bass. The title of the Chinese translation is literally "When Chaos Meets The Wall Street” and is published by the Common Wealth Publishing Company. This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter provides the background to the motive and purpose of this paper. The second chapter provides a description of The Predictors on a chapter-by-chapter basis and a brief introduction of the author’s autobiography and the features of the book. The third chapter forms the bulk of this paper and deals with the translation process, the employment of translation principles and skills, the difficulties encountered, and the solutions to the difficulties. The fourth
chapter focuses on the contrastive analysis between the Chinese translation and the published text revised by the editor. A brief discussion of readers’reception is also included. The fifth chapter sums up the findings of the previous chapters and provides some suggestions derived from the translation of The Predictors.
