Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 教育研究所 === 89 === After liberalizing the authorized version of textbooks in Taiwan, publishers all make efforts to improve the quality of textbooks so as to obtain a good market. Because the integration of curriculum is one of the major goals of the “1-9 New Curriculum Guideline” in Taiwan, and the design and development of textbooks is always based on the Guideline, we must put much emphasis on the importance of curriculum integration.
The purpose of this study is to explore the issues of design and development of integrative curriculum of junior high schools’ social studies textbooks. It includes:
1. The basic concept of developing junior high schools’
social studies textbooks;
2. The factors which influence the textbook’s development.
3. The problems which publishers suffered;
4. The solvable methods and the process of the textbook’s
development.
In order to accomplishing the purposes mentioned above, the study applies the methods of document analysis and interview. According to the data analysis and discussion, the main results were synthesized as follows:
1. The integration of curriculum is the major concept of the
“1-9 New Curriculum Guideline” in Taiwan;
2. Most of publishers do their best to design the integrative
social studies textbooks, but still difficult to reach the
goal of real curriculum integration.
3. The course of converting the ”1-9 New Curriculum
Guideline ” into textbooks is not complete;
4. The editors of each publishing firms face different
influential factors and problems, therefore they must
develop professionally intellectual competence and solvable
methods;
5. The editors fail to thoroughly deal with other studies and
issues, therefore easily debasing the degree of curriculum
integration.
6. The editors of publishing firms between primary school
department and junior high school department have worked
together for improving the quality of textbooks.
7. The development of textbooks will be restricted if lacking
the process of experiment and trial teaching.
8. Publishers need to pay more attention to professional growth
and research and development in textbooks.
Finally, some suggestions based on research finding and conclusions will be set forth to the revision of the “1-9 New Curriculum Guideline”, publishing of textbooks, editing of textbooks, other issues of textbooks, faculty cultivation institute, teachers and further research.
