The notion of hierarchy is also applied to solve the scalability. With different demands, we use different multicast routing protocols. The source-based multicast routing protocol is used in the core network, whereas the core-based multicast routing protocol in the local network. The members in the core network can be fewer and will obtain stricter QoS guarantee. For the local network part, according to the concept of locality, most of users usually move in the same domain. For this reason, the core-based protocol will benefit to manage numbers of users more conveniently. When the users move arbitrarily, the whole multicast tree will not be changed violently. The new members who want to join the group will send the requests to the core in the local network. The core will check if it can manage to satisfy the QoS requirement from the new member. When the core cannot meet the submitted request, it forwards the request to the source. Then the new member will become a new core. The novel construction provides users to join the most suitable domain that agrees with their QoS requirements. In the mean time, the problem of scalability will be solved, as well as the complexity of multicast trees can be improved greatly. Through simulation evaluations, our proposal can provide 3%~24% reduction in message overhead compared to traditional multicast routing protocol with suppression mechanism. Furthermore, our proposal can provide 12%~14% reduction in resource utilization. Wen-Tsuen Chen 陳文村 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 24 en_US |

In this paper, we will introduce an innovatory architecture of multicast, which provides the QoS and the mobility support concurrently.
