The participants were ten never-married female teachers in schools, with over five years teaching experiences. Based on phenomenological perspectives, the data are collected by in-depth interviews, and categorized by analytical principles required in the grounded theory and consensual qualitative research. According to interviews, seven categories could be concluded. They were professional competence, managerial competence and occupational prestige, autonomy/independence, entrepreneurial creativity and challenge, service and dedication, lifestyle, and exploration to the meaning of life. This study was to explore the contribution of various backgrounds, personal mental factors, and environmental causes to career anchors. The major findings were as follows: 1. Family socioeconomic status was a factor affected never-married female teachers’ current situation. 2. The never-married female teachers contributed their achievement to good luck. 3. The never-married female teachers highly valued job involvement more than family involvement. 4. Career anchors of these never-married female teachers were deeply related to the relationships with their mothers. 5. The career critical incidents in career caused to change career development of these participants. Those critical incidents influenced their self-image and their career anchors.
