Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 物理學系 === 89 === The main purpose of this study is to investigate children’understanding about the content of thermal expansion, and to describe children’s conceptual development on thermal expansion.Semistructured interviews was adopted with small samples to find out the factors which affected children’s thinking about thermal expansion. Based on the findings of interviews, an instrument with Demonstratiom Lead to Prediction Test examining technique was developed and was administered to a big-scale sample(N=1520). The results revealed: 1. Grade, area, sex made significant differences on students’ grand scores. 2. Generally children’s concept development on thermal expansion was positively correlated to their grades. 3.The concept development of rural children on thermal expansion was slower than the development of children of other areas. 4. Sex made significant difference on children’recognition of plane expansion. 5. Regardless of grade, area, sex children’s sub-concept development of thermal expansi on followed the sequential order of from linear expansion, to plane expansion, and to volume expansion. 6. In terms of problem design, the characteristics of objects were significant factors to children’s reasoning.
