碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 資訊管理學程碩士班 === 89 === In the recently years, the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) has been used popularly in some kinds of regions. Except the wired network systems, there are also many journals illustrating the application of the SNMP in wireless communication networks, like the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) system and the Code Division Multiplexing Access (CDMA) system. It is perceived that the SNMP network management system will take up its position in this region. The purpose of our research is applying the SNMP to develop the architecture of the SNMP Satellite Communication Network Management System (SSCNMS) for network configuration and performance management. The contribution of our research is that we using the SNMP in the satellite channels configuration management to carry out the Demand Assignment Multiple Access (DAMA) scheme for efficienctly utilizing the satellite transponder resource. In addition, we investigate the methods of impoving polling efficiency and decreasing the traffic in network performance management, and bring out the suitable network management architecture. The system performance evaluation shows that our network management architecture is suitable for the satellite communication network than the fully centralized architecture of the SNMP.
