Abstract
Key words: toxicity ,ORBO Tube, volatile organic compounds(VOCs), Microtox,
The ORBO Tube in this experiment can effectively draw and extract volatile organic compounds (VOCs). But because of its easily volatile characteristic, we have to choose an analytic method of toxicity with fastness and good sensitivity. Microtox costs only five minutes to examine. Therefore it has the advantage of fastness, convenience and cheapness. What’s more important, it has good sensitivity. As a result, this method is adopted in this experiment.
The concentration of the overall VOCs differs greatly in all kinds of indoor places in this experiment. Especially, the concentration of VOCs in temples differs more greatly from other entertainment places, which should be related to the incense. According to the research, the overall concentration of VOCs has little to do with the number of people who smoke cigarettes in fixed time. The major reason may connect with the indoor materials because the VOCs are incessantly aborbed and taken off. Therefore, the air can maintain its thickness in fixed time.
According to the result of the experiment, the order of the overall concentration of VOCs in all kinds of indoor places, from high to low, is like this: the temple, the game house, the billiard room, the bowling alley, the KTV, the movie theater. And so is the order of the toxicity in those places. It reveals that the overall concentration of VOCs is highly related to the toxicity. However, in the aspect of the single VOC chemical compound, n-Hexane, n-Heptane, 1-Heptene, Bezene, Toluene have more relevance with the toxicity.
