Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 物理學系 === 89 === In this thesis, the development of a data compression module (DCM) for the scientific payload of Taiwan's satellite, ROCSAT-2 is present-ed. The DCM is designed to compress the images of red Sprites, auroras, and airglows measured from a CCD imager as well as the data from pho-tometers array. The application of compression coding is range coding and predictor coding. Hardware and software architectures have been designed and presented. Hands-on experiences also have been reviewed and analyzed such that design schedule and evaluation for future develop-ment can be established. Consideration and analysis of code optimization is also presented. Interface factors also have been analyzed to achieve the development goals. The details of design also have been included.
