In this study, an automatic point clouds blending generating system for constructing a 3-D product model is built based on reverse engineering concepts. In this method, designer can make 3D product models with PU or EK form artificially. Then a non-contact laser scanner is used to measure and record the geometric data of the configurations. The measured data are then smoothed with skills to get smooth models. Two different models are further used to generate new shapes with shape averaging or shape morphing method. In this manner, designers can develop their ideas in a shorter time. The obtained results can also be taken as the input data of another commercialized CAD system in IGES format to create a 3D product model in rendered form. Though four examples are used to specify the implementation procedures, this method can also be used to design all other products. Shih-Wen Hsiao 蕭世文 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 150 zh-TW
