A field experiment with rates of potassium fertilizer and application times of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers was carried out at Chanfau county, the most important cut chrysanthemum growing area, to study a economical use of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers with good quality of cut flower. Huang-Hsu-Fang, Chrysanthemum morifollium Ramat cv. Huang-Hsu-Fang, a common species grown in Taiwan, was grown on Wanhsin soil, a calcareous soil containing calcium carbonate crystals. A split plot design was adopted with three potassium rates (K1, 200; K2, 250; and K3, 300 kg-K2O ha-1) in main plot and different application times D1 (all fertilizers applied before flower bud reached at 2 cm diameter) and D2 (15 % of nitrogen fertilizer and 12.5% potassium fertilizer applied 3 weeks after) in subplot. Some growing characters were surveyed, soil and plant samples were collected and analyzed, and vase longevity was also observed. In the same time, the farmer’s practices in fertilization was also included as a comparison treatment, i.e. Kc trestmrent. Some results were derived from this study: 1 The nitrogen fertilizer rate at about 260 Kg-N ha-1 is enough at this area in the summer to winter growing season. 2 All potassium fertilizer shall be applied before flower bud reached at 2 cm in diameter as 250 kg-K2O ha-1 used, but 12.5% of potassium fertilizer was suggested to remain to apply three weeks after that as 200 kg-K2O ha-1 used. 3 The content of available phosphorus in this soil analyzed with Bray No. 1 method was highly correlated that analyzed with Olson method. 4. The content of available phosphorus was highly negatively correlated with soil pH. Yuh-Ming Huang 黃裕銘 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 81 zh-TW
