Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 土木工程學系 === 89 === Abstract The main topic of this report is to study the load capacities and shapes of the 345kV transmission towers. In the aspect of load capacities, the load capacities and failure modes were studied. In the aspect of shapes, the optimal shapes among the existed towers, which are composed of suspension towers (including Type A, B and F), strain towers (including Types C and D) and terminal towers (Type E), were studied so that they can be suggested to be the standard shapes for different kinds of towers. The results show that the overhang arms of the towers fail first all the time comparing with the main structures. And the failure loads of the latter are much greater than the former. In this case, the failures of the overhang arms would not form the failure mechanism and would not cause the entire towers to collapse. In addition, this report suggests that the shape of Type B be the standard shape of the suspension towers and the shape of Type D be the standard shape of strain towers.
