Listening comprehension is viewed as an active process by second language acquisition researchers. However there was no direct research that clarified how listeners were affected by news genres. An experiment was conducted in which 134 National Chengchi University students were presented with news stories in 4 different versions. The study found that most of the students comprehended more from the inverted pyramid structure than pyramid structure news Issue salience caused a significant difference in students'' memory of f news content.
