Summary: | 碩士 === 國立政治大學 === 社會學系 === 89 === Based on the viewpoint of environmental sociology and anti-pollution campaign, this research is to study the event of the “residence with radiation-stained steel bars“ of Taiwan. It deals with the development of the victims’ self-saving campaign, the government participation in the subsequent discovery of such stain cases and the changing attitude of the government toward such cases. This research takes the anti-radiation activities launched by “The Association to Facilitate the Radiation Safety“ as study case, and studies and analyzes the fundamental data resulted from the long term participation, observation and interview with the members and relevant individuals.
Over the process of the defiant campaign, the Association, stimulated by the internal and external factors, is endowed with new meaning socially. The development and content of these organizations are also determined by the external and objective conditions. Also, the inherent characteristics of the organization will establish its position for action.
The environmental damage is, as a matter of fact, a result of the long-term emphasis put on the economic development in this country, especially out of the policies with respect to the urban development, environmental protection and energy. Owing to the campaign launched by the Association, the issue of the “residence with radiation-stained steel bars“ has been brought up. Without the Association, that issue possibly will be buried and become an environmental damage without being known to the world. Besides, it also renders a revelation that people of different stances will assume different attitudes toward resolutions. However, as knowledge is supported by authority, what are academic studies and techniques for?
