Although heat shock proteins ( HSPs) were initially isolated in Drosophila , it soon became evident that a heat shock response also occurred in mammalian cells. The inductions of heat shock proteins in previous series of studies all reveal the association of heat shock proteins with many kinds of stresses . So far, over two hundreds of induction factors were widely discussed , including hyperthermia , anoxia, heavy metals, free radicals, virus infection, inflammation, oxidative injury, microbial infection, ischemia, acid injury and alkaline injury. In recent years , more research focus on the association of heat shock protein with nervous system such as adult rat cerebral ischemia model, peripheral nerve injury model, and glaucoma . Therefore, here we report a immunohistochemical method to discuss the heat shock protein 27 in optic nerve axotomy of adult rat. We expect that this model will provide us a new idea about the role of heat shock protein in optic nerve injury so as to understand the clinical application of heat shock protein in patients of traumatic optic neuropathy。 After our study, we found that increased immunostaining of heat shock protein 27 in optic nerve axotomy eyes may reflect a role of these proteins as a cellular defense mechanism in response to stress or injury in optic nerve axotomy. The results also inspire us a new direction to approach the optic nerve regeneration in the future。 Hwei-Zu Wang 王惠珠 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 47 zh-TW |
