The 3S PSM is a real object-based 3D model reconstruction technique , and all those real objects used to reconstruct the 3D models are with Lambertian surfaces, which means when a light source illuminates the objects , surfaces covered on those objects will uniformly diffuse the incidence light. The 3S PSM is different from the 3D model reconstruction technique using laser scanner. It uses three light sources to illuminate the object in different directions by turns , and takes a triplet of photos for calculating data with 3D information. The 3-D Model reconstruction using three light sources photometric stereo method is easy to operate and the hardware equipments are inexpensive. We would like to see it becoming more and more convenient in 3D data transmission and generation with the completion of this 3D model reconstruction system.
