Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 食品營養學系 === 89 === Among many ergogenic aids, Coenzyme Q10 (Co Q10) has earned much attention in the research field of oxidative stress. Co Q10, an endogenous lipid-soluble compound, can scavenge free radicals and attenuate lipid peroxidation. Co Q10 level in the blood has been demonstrated decrease in athletes after intense training, and it is suggested that such low plasma levels of Co Q10 after exercise may indicate the increase of intracellular metabolic turnover of Co Q10 and peroxidative damage. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the supplementation of Co Q10 can decrease lipid peroxides formation and muscular damage in athletes. Sixteen female football players were randomly assigned into Co Q10 and placebo group. Subjects either ingested 120 mg Co Q10 or placebo for 4 weeks. Subjects exercised at 65% VO2max for 60 m'''''''''''''''', and followed by 90% VO2max until exhaustion. Although there was no significant difference in malondialdehyde and creatine kinase values for two groups, the results showed that Co Q10 supplementation can suppress the increase of lipid peroxides after exercise, and has a trend to decrease creatine kinase for Q10 group. Co Q10 can lower the depletion of α-tocopherol during exercise , but had no effect on total glutathine concentration. Supplementation of Co Q10 has no effect on physiological metabolites such as serum free fatty acid ﹑lactate and glucose. Besides, Co Q10 can’t enhance aerobic exercise indexes such as maximal heart rate﹑maximal oxygen consumption﹑respiratory exchange rate and the exhaustion time. In conclusion, Co Q10 may suppress peroxides formation during exercise, but may had no benefit on exercise performance.
