In this article, the programmable logic controller in association with the single chip microprocessor is selected as an example, to built up the numerical control system.
There are three main functions in the numerical control system: numerical display, function key, and position control. In numerical display function, the user can use this information to know the status of the machine. The simple seven-segment display is used to display the numerical information. In connection with the PLC as well as the I/O relay is investigated. The user can use the function key to input the numerical data in the machine. The integration of the numerical display and function key is presented in this article.
Integration of microprocessor and programmable logic controller for closed-loop position control design of surface grinding machine is studied. The single chip microprocessor is in charge of the feedback control because of its merit of high-speed computation and processing. The programmable logic controller takes the advantage of high reliability is used to manage various tasks of I/O, monitoring and process control. Control system design is accomplished with both the theoretical approach and practical implementation. The simulation and practical experiment verify the developed controller is able to satisfy the system requirement
